    Hi all,

We are running WDM v4.7.2 (workgroup edtion) which we use to configure around 500 wyse terminals via a single WNOS file. The wnos file currently creates a manual ICA connection that points to our existing citrix farm.

We are currently in the process of implementing a new xen app farm. We intend to configure our clients quite differently (using the pnagent as opposed to a single ICA connection). We would also prefer a staged deployment whereby we can cut over a batch of clients at a time.

What is the best way to do this? As I understand it would involve multiple WNOS files? How can I selectively target certain terminals? I have used the include statement, but this might not be practical for 500 or so machines.
    Any help much appreciated!

Do you have a chance to group clients based on subnets?

We can do this if it will help? Each of our stores the use our terminals resides on their own subnet so we can group them together along those lines.

I’m currently facing the same problem. I don’t have them separated by subnet but do have them grouped separately. I can do whatever is necessary because at this point, I can’t conceive of how to deploy multiple WNOS when the process seems to occur without WDM playing any role in the deployment of the current .ini file. I use DHCP to assign the WDM server to the thin clients and they “automatically” retrieve the wnos.ini file I have on the FTP server. I don’t see how it’s possible to have some of them retrieve a different .ini so I must be missing something significant. Any help/advice/pointer to docs is very much appreciated!

Some different ways to achieve this:
    1. Use Option Tag 161 and 162 on your DHCP server. This will sent out the fileserver IP and the path to the clients. Now you can send out different paths (OT 162) to the clients for different subnets.
    2. Manually assign different paths to the clients
    3. Use a username.ini or mac.ini file to seperate between special user or device configs
    4. Best, most flexible and most expensive way: Use WDM Enterprise and the inbuild Default Device Configuration. You can find a nice document on how to do this in our Product – WTOS section (Setup DDC with WDM 4.7.2 – no 4.8 document at this moment).
