    Hey Guys,

I’m trying to upgrade my V10L from version 5.3.0_09 to 6.0.1B08 but the wyse terminal doesn’t see the file. I put it in the wnos folder and i know the terminal sees the ftp server because it gets the .INI file. Here is the wnos.ini file.
    Thank you,
    -AW

    Hi,

Do you have the 161, 162 and 186 tags all in DHCP by chance?

    Cheers,
    -TT

What’s the name of your firmware file? It has to be “V10L_wnos”

I only have 161 set up for the ftp server. It has been working fine for upgrading my V50L’s.
The firmware version is: 1V12-6.0.0_14.08-128.i2d. On the wyse website it says:

Ver 6.0.0_14.08 – Download Wyse Thin OS Software

    Ver 6.0.0_14.08 for V10L

    Wyse Thin OS 6.0.0_14.08 – V10L
    File Size:84.3 MB
The only reason why I’m upgrading to this version and not the latest is because Wyse told me since my firmware is so old i should first upgrade to this one.
    Thank you,

That’s the reason then. You are using the wrong firmware file.
When doing an upgrade via FTP you have to use a file called V10L_wnos which should be between 2-7 MB in size.
The file you have is for PXE imaging only.

Sorry it’s VL10_wnos, of course and it is about 7MB in size

I used that file (VL10_wnos) and it worked. I guess the Wyse Techs had no clue what they were talking about again.

    Thank you so much,

Pretty sure they know that stuff but look at that thread. It took us several replies until we found the issue.
Good to know it is working now.

I’m not trying to knock the Tech team at Wyse. Some of them do know what they are doing. But i logged a ticket about this problem on Thursday where they said that they will escalate this to level 2 support and i still haven’t heard back from them. Also the last problem i had with the dual monitors it took them a month to figure out what I was talking about where as you guys on FreeWyseMonkeys.com understood in 2 days. You guys are great!

    Thank you,

I think I will stick with you guys at Free Wyse Monkey. It seems smarter, easier and cheaper! Plus the president of my company will kill me if I added more bills to a already depleted I.T. budget! 😉
