My thin clients are left on indefinitely, often with little to no user interaction (some are used as displays). I am thinking that if I could schedule them to shutdown at night and turn on in the morning, like I do with my PCs, it could resolve some issues I have been having. Has anyone automated something like this?
Turning them on:
I do not see a way to schedule the devices to boot from within the BIOS, like I do with my PCs. Also, I have not been able to get wake-on-lan to work, but there is no mention of it in the manual so I don’t know of the device supports it or not. Any ideas?
Turning them off:
I do not see a way to automate this either. I can remotely shut down the clients with the WDM, but I do not see a way to schedule this. Is there a way to write something into a scheduled script that could shut them down?
Alternatively, since I cannot turn them back on, there are a way to reboot the clients at night? My V10LEs support the following line in the INI:
Reboot=yes Time=hh:mm
I do not see an equivalent for the C50LEs. Am I missing it?
Any advice would be useful. Thanks.
