    Hi All,

On the Wyse S30 control panel can i specify the Ip add of my FTP server rather than option tags?

I know with WTOS you can specify the address of the server but i cant seem to find this option in CE.

    Cheers

What do you want to achieve by setting the FTP server IP?
CE does not have a similar way of self configuration like WTOS with its wnos.ini.

This is possible but you will need a special FTP folder structure to make this work.
Check out the doc “DHCP automatic firmware upgrade” on my website. You can achieve all this even with local client config and without DHCP option tags although I would highly recommend option tags to make your live much easier.

    Hi CG,

I have read the document, but it specifically specifies that I need to configure option tags on my DHCP server for the process to work. Is there a way i can tell my S30 CE terminal the specific IP address of my DHCP server?

Also, Your document does not support my model terminal.

    Thanks
    Anthony

i have now managed to upgrade my s30 to the latest firmware 5.0 (build 588) and after boot it says “the application “WinVnc.exe” failed to start”

I havnt reset to factory defaults as yet but i was hoping not to as i am planning to upgrade a fair few of these

There is no other way than using a DHCP server with the appropriate option tags to let the units auto upgrade themself. Of course the doc is not dealing with all models Wyse ever made and I cannot update the doc each time Wyse releases a new one, but it is very simple to find out the needed model/path for each unit. This is described in the doc.

If WinVNC.exe is not starting check out if the “Remote Shadow” addon is installed on your upgraded unit. Then go to Control Panel-Remote Shadow and disable and then enable the option once. Is it still failing?

What was the firmware version you have came from?
