Aside from the blurt I have from dealing with McAfee av is there any other av that anyone has managed to get installed on a V90 model? Since we have began to deploy them, some of our users seem to be finding the damnedest things and causing some grief on their machines.

    Two schools of thought…

    1) Provided the Wyse’s write filter is enabled, theoretically nothing should be persistent, so if you power cycle/reboot the system, any changes (viruses) should automatically be gone.

    2) You could look into something like SolidCore which takes a “white list” approach rather than a blacklist or scan and detect approach that an AV program will use. Solidcore works on a Wyse but their pricing (last I heard) was much higher than AV on a per a seat basis.

95magnarider is correct. The write filter prevents the unit from getting infected persitently. Nevertheless a unit can get infected while it is running and can spread the malware around until rebooted.
With the new File-based Write Filter FBWF implemeting a antivirus solutions is much easier nowadays.
Just install the product of your choice and put some exceptions in the FBWF list for eg. pattern files.
Should work with most of the current products. No longer need for a second partition or something else.
McAfee works fine for me btw.
