You know….I knew someone would say that….so I went to Wyse’s site and downloaded the update and set it out on the FTP.

My problem here is that it won’t download it.

It downloads everything else, just not the firmware upgrade. Is there a trick to this? I made a directory under /wyse called /wyse/fm and set it there.

Thanks millions for your very fast replies!

YOU FOUND A BUG IN CONFGEN :-((

    Try this syntax: JetDirectPrinter=10.127.1.43 Name=”laser” ModelID=”Generic/Text Only” Enable=yes EnableLPD=yes

It has to be Enable and not Enabled !
If you confirm that it is running I will fix it in the next release.

    Thanks

Thanks for the info on the syntax. I changed it and still no go. Is there a way I can view a system log to see where or why it’s failing to setup the printer? Maybe thru /var/log/messages or something like that?

Also, if you add a printer manually, the syntax is much different if you run the Diagnostics applet and look under “Permanent Settings”. Why is that?

I’m sure there must be something I’m missing. I’ve read other people have setup JetDirects on this forum. I must be doing something wrong.

I guess I should add, that this is just for a Web browser kiosk. I need it to boot, load a network based print driver and then start FireFox. People should be able to use the kiosk and print web pages. Nothing more or less.

    Thanks in advance.

No idea as I do not work a lot with Linux.
Maybe a good idea to start working with Wyse support on this.
