    Put the following lines at the end of your wnos.ini files:

    Include=$SN
    Include=$MAC
    Include=$TN

    Once you do this, your WTOS terminals will log their serial number, MAC address, and terminal name in your FTP log files. A little perl or vbscript (or whatever) and you have yourself a handy inventory system for your Wyse terminals.

    Nice one. Do you also have the script ready and would like to share?

    Yes, I have a fairly extensive perl program for mining the FTP logs. It has a lot of things specific to our environment, but I’ll create a generic version and post it.

    Ok, here is the generic version. It requires perl, which you can get at activestate.com. I’ve only tested on windows with 32 bit perl 5.10.1. If you want to run it on unix/linux, you’ll have to change the line that parses the FTP log files to match your FTP server log file format.

    You’ll need to modify the program so that it knows the location of your FTP log files. Optionally, you can put code in the subroutine GetLocation to convert an IP address to a physical location.

    I’ve only tested with S-10 and 1200 devices, but I assume that all WTOS devices should be picked up and processed.

    run it like this:
    perl wyse_counts2.pl > wyse_counts.xls

    Then, open the XLS file in excel and enjoy!

    Here is the code:
