I have 4 3150SEs. I have tried to read all posts having to do with them. I am on line with one now, solo mode, no hub, and find sites that work fine and sites that go into MOBILE mode, and sites that dont work at all. I see a post saying these have no
I guess this is why its working as it is??
Another post says the 3150 has a 36 pin IDE like connector?
Is this correct? Does the 3150 only have this, or the enitre X150 family?
What size 36 pin modules are there? Any larger then what 3150 has?
If any larger can anything else be installed in this or does ram size stop that?
I installed the updated bios and now have the USB imager working also. I think a 4.6 version goes by at boot on mine, anything newer?
I got these 4 because average price was under $20.00 each?16. May 2008 at 6:40 #12964
The 3150 has a very small proprietary connector, so although its IDE flash the connection is different. The mother board is basically the same as the early S-Class (Non RoHS) so its a AMD Geode.
There was of course a 9150 with up to 256MB of flash, if you were REALLY keen and lucky maybe you solder on new flash chips and build one of these from the 3150. This would then fit XP embedded.
Also I think Wyse may have Flash for Windows CE now but really CE is based on windows mobile so its not a great browser.

One of my 3150SEs is running CE5, or so it says? The addons button in control panel says 12,596KB free under flash? When I go to wyse.com, software downloads, add ons for 3150, MEDIA PLAYER, system or IE says not enough free space to download?
I dont get it as always? Media Player isnt larger then 12,596KB is it?
I can stick in a USB stick with LINUX, go to same spot and download file. I could now, if I knew where, put that file in the CE flash, but then how would CE start it and install it????
Why does this stuff have to be so different than anything else?17. May 2008 at 6:40 #12982
Remember you have purchased a unit with Windows CE, the only thing the same as Windows XP is that they both have the word “Windows” in there name. Its a whole new OS to learn.
Go to the Wyse support site and read the CE reference guides and they explain how to load addons. In the case of media player you will need to download it to your PC, install a FTP server and then the terminal can install the addon from this FTP server.
Wyse Windows CE is designed as a remote managed terminal for RDP/ICA or terminal emulation display not as a general purpose PC so the design is different.
If media play will not fit with the ftp upgrade remove a few addons,

I wanted to find out if anyone knew the pinout of the 36 pin connector on the flash IDE????? Any of the pins???????????
I found a patent from 2005, 6859854, that has the pinout of a 36 pin IDE connector and the size, shape, and type looks like correct connector???
I can not say for sure, but if someone has some of the pinout it would be a good guess???? Should I just post it anyway? I could post 36 to 40 compare like this
P36 type P40
1 reset 1
2 D7 3
3 D6 5
4 D5 7
Anyone interested in this?
How do you space above correct? using spaces dont work it takes them out?23. May 2008 at 7:14 #13042
Sorry, no idea. Looks like you will have to try it and see!30. May 2008 at 1:20 #13112
Its me again. My #5 3150SE was stuck in a loop, the log on and off to the server was set on auto so it went trying to log on, cant, log off, trying to log on, cant, ect ect.
I dont know how many times this was going to happen before it would stop if ever?
I found a Usb mem stick image that after the bios was updated would boot into a save Raw flash image all 32meg on the usb mem stick and then could push this 32meg back into another unit. The get image on to mem stick took 15min, the push into a different unit took 5 min.
So I took a image from a unit I had already started to set up and pushed it into #5, I am stuck in a loop unit and got a unit that is a twin and no longer loops. I guess I now have my own USB IMAGER that takes any CE, LINUX, XPE image and lets you put it into as many units as you want??????
Will test this more later, as I have only tried on 1 3150SE so far.
Does anyone have a 3150SE with CE that they use in stand alone mode and that they have built up the CE into more then it was? I am interested in what you have done and what you have?
Please, POST, Email, PM30. May 2008 at 2:56 #13113
What program were you using to pull the image with from the working 3150?
-TT30. May 2008 at 3:47 #13114
Old version, 2, listed as a dos version with a floppy image but also has a USB image, works strange on WYSE some features missing or not working but does make a RAW SECTOR COPY OF WYSE FLASH DRIVES AND LETS YOU LOOK AT SECTORS and then push RAW sector copy back out.
DISK-IMAGE is name
is web page
In that site is old version 2 for dos, my normal xp pro system ran .exe which made USB stick.30. May 2008 at 19:16 #13126
You ask for info before I had time to check it out more, update.
Orig usb stick is a Lexar 2gig unit. get 32m raw image 15 min write back out 5min
Dane Elec 64mb sticks 1 will not boot at all 2nd 1 boots, get 32m raw image over 1 hour did not write back out yet.
What usb flash stick you use makes huge difference?
ANYONE ELSE USE THIS YET? HOW DID IT GO?30. May 2008 at 21:47 #13129
There are a number of RAW disk tools and in fact you can run ghost this way as well. They work fine except you can not use a Wyse image format with them. Many people want to use images created by Wyse or from the WDM server – hence the USB tool on this site using native .i2d.
If you just want to move images around RAW writes are fine.
As for USB stick they definitely are not all created equal. Even sticks of the same type can change components on the inside and not work any longer. The only way to find out is to try one and see!

Does anyone have addons for the 3150SE other than WYSE???? Does WYSE have more they dont show??????
I just installed the Wyse media player 9 for CE and can play some radio and tv stations from VTUNER on the net.
How did I finally do this? I have a web site with a ton of room and download time that untill my son moves back out and gives my space back for my other hobby early tvs,
I dont use. So I ran the media player file, self zip, and put the files in a DIR, WYSE, on the web site, then I set up 3150SE ftp addon system to get files from the site.
It works except while playing radio and tv it dont let me use all features of other sites???
If by luck the media player goes away from the screen, while still playing, other sites now work 100%, but if I make it go away then they dont work?????
Anyone know anything about this?
Other item I would like is a windows explorer to look at all files, dir, ect. And I want this to work in stand alone mode not a got to use a server mode?
Did like above but with ftp upgrade. 3150 max upgrade 559? I see S30 goes way past that, can a S30 upgrade be used in the 3150se? I put a 3150 upgrade into a S30 and it seems to work? I used raw write, and that dont care what unit you put it into.
