    Hi,

This is my first post, please be kind.

I have user connecting to either a CPS4 farm or a XP FR2 farm, the problem occurs on both farms.

When upgrading a 1125SE to firmare 5.1.028 or 5.1.038 users on heavily utilised WAN links report very blocky performance, especially when deleting in word or excel, large portions of text go missing (as if their local text echo is set wrongly).

However if I roll the terminals back to 4.4.076f or 4.4.079f the user experience is much better and the deletion problem completely goes away.

I was wondering if anybody has seen any WNOS.INI entries or something similar that improve performance with the later versions of clients?

I have users on S10 terminals on 5.1.038 and they work fine.

    Thanks for any help.

As a general rule I have found these settings best:

Set colors to High, do not use low band and disable unwanted virtual channels like com ports.

Here are a few suggestions to fix:

    – Try tuning the MTU size, this should be done by the router but you could try setting something like MTU=1489

    – Contact Wyse and try the 5.0.061 firmware as this has almost the same features as the 5.1 code for the 1125 and see if this works better.

    Cheers,

Thanks very much, do you know of any other switches that can boost performance on over utilised links? maybe unpublicised ones…

    Hi,

Not really, they are the main ones. I have been finding that the performance of the 5.0x code and 5.2 code is better that the 5.1 branch, particularly with IE and Word. It would really be worth trying the 5.0.061 and see how it goes on the WAN,
