XPe Version 587 has problems with WDM
|
fixer982 writes "Everyone should be aware that Version 587 of the BIOS on X90L XPe Notebook Clients has problems which prevent upload/download from WDM 4.7.1
The solution is to use the new Wyse USB Firmware Tool and the 9X92_S618_512 package to update the units before configuring a master unit for image creation and distribution using WDM.

Mangelsdorff writes "If you change the MUI of a V90L (even newest Build 596) to German and take the device into the domain then you will face problems at logon to the device:
- long time until logon
- taskbar not visible (only a line) and not functional
There is a FIX available from Wyse which solves the problem."

Fact: Wyse Xpe and NTe terminals can be locked down and use other applications as a shell for RDP. This does require some special consideration for the user account that logs in.

On some LCD monitors the image "flickers" or "shakes". Fact: The V90 uses a VIA PM880 UniChrome integrated graphics chip set and newer drivers to resolve monitor issues can be downloaded from www.viaarena.com under the XPe SP2 section.

Tech Docs: Creating Data Partitions on Wyse XPe Thin Clients
|
Issue: Need to have files excluded from the Enhanced Write Filter (EWF) for Anti Virus or user profile settings.
Fact: Disabling the EWF removes the ability of the flash to correctly wear level and increases the amount of writes to the flash. This dramatically reduces the life of the flash and also removes the basic file protection features of XPe.
Details: Wyse XPe Thin Clients have a basic feature called the Write Filter that is designed to protect the on board flash from accidental change by users and extend the working life of the flash. Attached is a white paper that describes how to create non-protected partitions for storing data.
